I recently picked up a second hand copy of Cobain Unseen, with all the bits intact, after trawling Amazon, and bought it on a whim. I’d read your Heavier than Heaven a few years back and thought it was a really good biog, so took a chance on it, and i’m glad i did. Concentrating on the influences, his art and environment, rather than the well documented drama of Nirvana gave me a more rounded view of him as a person and helped dispel the miserable junkie persona so often portrayed in the press. I loved all the paraphenalia and photo’s and being of a similar age, could relate to thinks like the large photo of the cassette tapes, as i used to love making them, mix-tapes and the covers for them myself. I was reading about the artist Joseph Cornell, when my copy arrived through the post, so the Cobain book dovetailed nicely with that, and I alternated my reading of them both, drawing some interesting parallels between the two. I think basically i just wanted to say, I honestly expected it to be some sort of ‘cash-in’ (no offence intended mate) and it wasn’t, it was far better than that and i really enjoyed it. It’s also encouraged me to check out more of your work in the future, anyway, it will be joining my collection of art books on the shelf, and will be re-read many times in the future i’m sure.

I read your latest book about Kurt Cobain (Here we are now) and I would again like to thank and congratulate for this book. Indeed he was the last great rock icon on this planet. Sometimes I wonder how I would be today if Kurt was alive. You are a great writer, author, congratulations.
